For some chefs, the farmers market simply isn't enough when it comes to sourcing fresh, unique ingredients. Foragers follows Chef Ari Taymor of Los Angeles restaurant Alma as he explores California in search of the best nature has to offer.
A complete dining experience is about far more than what's on the plate. The entire ambiance of a setting impacts how food is perceived, from the lighting down to the decor. No one knows this better than Ari Taymor of downtown Los Angeles eatery Alma, who ensures that the furnishings in his restaurant are as natural and wild as the food he serves.
One fateful day Taymor spotted a post of a wild foraged wood sorrel on Instagram. He promptly asked the photographer and forager of the flower Lani Trock where she found it. The two quickly realized their shared interest in finding wildflowers within the city and a partnership was born. Trock now outfits Alma weekly with a new set of wild, foraged flower arrangements. Changing from week-to-week depending on what is in season, Trock's arrangements and style of foraging are in line with Taymor's cuisine and bring even more of the outdoors to each table at Alma.
