It’s no surprise that the home of the Texas Longhorns boasts an impeccable sports bar scene. Every fall, fans flood the streets in search of a decent burger, beer, and view of the big screen — and in a city like Austin, there’s no shortage of great food and drinks to be found.

This year, it’s up to us to make sure it stays that way, even if we can’t scream and cheer alongside crowds of fellow fans like we used to. As we come together to support local sports bars and restaurants this season, we’ve partnered with Crown Royal to recognize some of the very best spots in Austin to watch the game (safely, and socially distanced) — or grab a meal to go if you’re cheering on your team at home.

A number of Austin-area bars and restaurants have resumed dine-in service at limited capacity, including several on this map. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns. For updated information on local regulations during the Covid-19 pandemic, visit the City of Austin website.

Another favorite Irish pub in the area, B.D. Riley’s calls itself a “fan bar” rather than a sports bar. With a spacious patio and emphasis on great food and beer, this is a safe haven for fans avoiding the general game-day crowds. The brunch is nothing to scoff at, either.
