It’s the most wonderful time of the year in New York City: fall. In an unexpected turn of events, the city doesn’t exactly look how it usually does this season — but if anyone knows how to make the most out of something sour, it’s New Yorkers.

Gone are the days (for now) of hopping around cozy speakeasies with your twelve coworkers, all sipping spiked ciders. Still, New York has maintained its reputation as a haven for cocktail enthusiasts, especially during the colder months. Whether you’re cozying up at an outdoor table or taking your drinks to-go, we’ve mapped out 8 of the best places to grab a fall cocktail across Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Be sure to check each of these spots before you go, as the state continues to adapt to new guidelines and regulations. As of December 14, New York City has suspended indoor dining, though the below bars and restaurants are open for takeout and delivery, as well as outdoor seating in some cases. For updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit health.ny.gov. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
