When Seth “Scump” Abner tried his brother’s video console for the first time, he discovered a natural talent for video games almost immediately. At first, he played with his friends as equals, but they soon realized (and were ready to admit) that Scump’s skills put him ahead of the pack.
Now Scump’s friends are by his side to support him as he advances his professional career in eSports. His mom has his back, too. Initially she didn’t like the idea of her son pursuing video games as his passion, let alone as his profession, but then he started winning.
“The tipping point for me was in 2011,” Scump says. “It was the first major tournament I’d ever been to ... [and] it was a big deal because my mom was a little bit skeptical about letting me fly halfway around the country. But I actually won the tournament.”

This is Scump’s story as told by him and the friends who support his journey. We asked Scump how he feels about being a Bud Light All-Star:
Q: What motivates you to play at the caliber of a Bud Light All-Star?
A: Competing at tournaments is the reason I started doing this. It’s the most fun thing I’ve ever done in my entire life ... It’s unlike anything I’ve ever done. It’s why I keep playing to get better and compete at the highest level. It’s that whole atmosphere.
